Defining days lie ahead

A huge couple of days lie ahead for Arsenal football club. On Saturday we play Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup fifth round and on Tuesday we face German giants Bayern Munich.

Some people may be taking the Blackburn game for granted but I feel it’s so important that we win. We’ve won our last two games and kept two clean sheets but to have any chance against Bayern we need to be full of confidence and anything less than a win on Saturday won’t be good enough.

Out of action

The Champions League game is getting more of the publicity but it’s the FA Cup that’s our most likely trophy this season. We are two games away from Wembley and with Kieran Gibbs our only real ‘long term’ injury, we should be in a position to fight on all fronts.

Regardless, two games in four days means we’re likely to see changes and most likely at the weekend. It remains to be seen whether Koscielny or Vermaelen will be risked so Miquel or Sagna could be centre back options.

Bellerin

With Jenkinson suspended and Sagna possibly playing a central role there could be a shock inclusion of Hector Bellerin. The young Spaniard is at the club a year and a half now and has yet to play for the first team. From watching him for the U21s he’s a player that loves to get forward and isn’t shy from taking shots either.

Anyway I’ll talk more about the Blackburn match tomorrow when we’ll find out more about the team news after the boss has his press conference. How we come out of these next five days will have a huge saying on the remainder of the season. Now it’s time for this team to step up.
